Six weathered sections lent to the town by a local businessman in 2000, argued over, and eventually moved to a trail on the agricultural campus.
Six large sections stand along the Cobequid Trail behind the Dalhousie Agricultural Campus at Bible Hill, some of them beside a pollinator garden. Six is a substantial holding — more than most national capitals in this catalogue — for a town of about twelve thousand people.
They spent years before that on an undeveloped open lot at the western edge of Truro, exposed to the weather. The concrete is badly worn: what is left of the original graffiti is hard to make out, and the elements are chipped where Mauerspechte got at them. The businessman Martin S. Young lent the six to his home town in the spring of 2000, the town treasurer put up 2,500 Canadian dollars, and the display was meant to be temporary. When the year was up there was no plan for what to do next, and owner and council fell out over it. The move to the trail is the resolution.
