Chilean students in Berlin were given a piece and shipped it home free of charge; the embassy bought it from them on the dockside at Valparaíso.
A segment stands outside the German embassy in Vitacura, unveiled on 3 October 1991 — German Unity Day. Its route is the most unusual in this catalogue. Berlin gave the piece to students from the Universidad de Chile who were studying in the city; the Ultramar shipping agency carried it to Chile free of charge; and when it reached the port of Valparaíso the embassy offered to buy it from them, paying money towards their project in the name of the Federal Republic. Almost every other segment here moved by state gift or private purchase. This one was a student souvenir that a government then acquired.
