Saxony's Axel Springer segment, set on the Promenadenring outside the former Stasi district headquarters.
A segment stands on the Promenadenring beside the Runde Ecke — the Leipzig district headquarters of the Stasi, occupied by citizens in December 1989 and a museum ever since. It is Saxony's share of the Axel Springer distribution for the twentieth anniversary, presented through BILD to the Free State, the city and the Bürgerkomitee Leipzig.
The dedication is to 9 October 1989, when around seventy thousand people walked this ring road past this building and the order to shoot was not given. Leipzig, not Berlin, is where the regime lost its nerve; placing a piece of the Berlin Wall on the route of that march is an argument about which city ended it.

A gift from Axel Springer AG in 2009, one of the 33 elements the company acquired and distributed to German states and cities.
