An element at the old inner-German crossing on the edge of Lübeck — the other border, and Lübeck's second record.
A wall element stands at Schlutup, on the eastern edge of Lübeck. The Berlin Wall Foundation catalogues it as MAU-764, photographed in 2022.
Schlutup was not on the Berlin Wall. It was a crossing point on the inner-German border, where the road ran east into Mecklenburg — the other frontier, which almost nothing in this catalogue represents.
That is what makes a Berlin element here worth recording. Lübeck was the only large city on the inner-German border, and it now holds two pieces of the Berlin one: this, and the segment craned into the garden of the Willy-Brandt-Haus. The city that lived beside the longer border commemorates it with concrete from the shorter, more famous one.
