Two segments from the Glienicker Brücke, standing in a theme park's German quarter with a certificate of origin.

Two segments stand at the start of the park's German themed area, near the Alexanderplatz station, among half-timbered buildings and Weimar neoclassicism. They were erected in 1996 on the initiative of Roland Mack, who runs the park, and they come with a certificate of origin — a detail worth recording, because most records in this catalogue have no paperwork at all and several have graffiti that is probably not original.

How did it get here?

Bought from Friedrich Dunsing, an entrepreneur who had been responsible for demolishing a stretch of the Wall at the Glienicker Brücke, where these elements came from — the bridge used for spy exchanges between Potsdam and West Berlin.
