Indiano's open mouth reading CHANGE YOUR LIFE, in the park outside the Imperial War Museum. From Leuschnerdamm in Kreuzberg, donated by Lord Palumbo in 1991.
The segment in Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Park, outside the Imperial War Museum, carries a painting by Jürgen Grosse, who works as Indiano: an open mouth in red with CHANGE YOUR LIFE across it in white block capitals. Grosse set himself the task of painting as many sections as he could before they were removed, and completed 223 of them in seven months.
How did it get here?
The element came from Leuschnerdamm in Kreuzberg and was acquired by the museum in 1991, donated by Lord Palumbo. Palumbo is a thread worth following: he acquired several elements, reportedly at a 1994 sale at Fischer Fine Art in London, and placed them at this museum, at Yorkshire Sculpture Park, at Nemacolin Woodlands, and two at his Frank Lloyd Wright house at Kentuck Knob in Pennsylvania. One private collector therefore accounts for five documented sites on two continents.
