A complete segment with its anti-climb pipe still on it, outside a language-travel company that cannot say how it got there.
A complete segment has stood outside the headquarters of the language-travel company Education First in Cambridge since the 1990s. It is in unusually good condition: the round anti-climb pipe along the top, which is missing from most of the records in this catalogue, is still there at full size. Somebody has painted a small figure on it in a blue hat, green T-shirt and pink jacket, with the Fila logo across the front, and who that was is not known.
Nor is anything else. The company, which also operates in Germany, could not say when the segment arrived or why. What it offers instead is a claim about itself: that over forty years it has placed millions of European pupils and students in the United States for language study, and so did its own small part in overcoming the division of the world through exchange.
The record was held back for a while because Boston holds more than one section and this listing carried only the city name. The Federal Foundation's own entry names the company, and the catalogue's separate listing for the EF headquarters — which has no coordinates at all — fits it exactly.
