Three sections from near Checkpoint Charlie, dedicated in 1992 and oriented as they stood in Berlin — graffiti west, whitewash east. Not open to the public.
The installation is unusually thoughtful about its own object. The sections were dedicated on 18 December 1992 beside the south-west entrance to the Original Headquarters Building, and they are set across the path from the car park to the entrance, so staff must go around them. Bench-height walls on both sides invite people to sit. The Wall keeps its function as well as its form. The site is not open to the public.
