A twelve-foot, four-and-a-half-ton section owned by the archive of America's overseas schools and given by the alumni of Berlin American High School.
A section twelve feet high and weighing four and a half tons stands on the museum's first floor, within an exhibit titled All Are Not Free. The museum does not own it: it is on long-term loan from the American Overseas Schools Historical Society, whose archives are also in Wichita. The provenance is the unusual part — the segment was given to that society by the Berlin BRATs, the alumni association of Berlin American High School, the school for the children of the American garrison in the divided city. It is one of the few records in this catalogue where the donors are people who grew up beside the Wall.
How did it get here?
Donated to the American Overseas Schools Historical Society by the Berlin BRATs, the Berlin American High School alumni group, and received on 1 August 2005. Loaned to the Museum of World Treasures, which displays it.
