The piece at Höfði was put in the car park on 3 October 2015. The Reagan–Gorbachev summit at Höfði in October 1986 failed publicly and is generally read as the turning point towards the treaties that followed. Placing a piece of the Wall at that address is an argument about causation, made in concrete.

The city's own announcement and the Reykjavík Art Museum, which lists the segment in its collection of public art, record it as a section from Potsdamer Platz painted by the street artist Jakob Wagner for Neu West Berlin's 2011 exhibition on the Spree, about four tonnes and 3.6 metres high, received for the city by the mayor, Dagur B. Eggertsson; the Foundation adds that Wagner came back in 2017 to restore the weathered painting.

Wie kam es hierher?

Gifted by the Neu West Berlin art centre for the twenty-fifth anniversary of German reunification; from Potsdamer Platz, painted by Jakob Wagner in 2011.
