The record

A three-tonne section unveiled in August 2023 as "Un mundo sin muros", a few steps from the US border fence.

A section of the Wall was unveiled in Playas de Tijuana on 13 August 2023, at the Binational Friendship Park beside the place where the US border fence meets the Pacific. Its title is "Un mundo sin muros", A World Without Walls. N+ gives it as about three metres tall and three tonnes, and Telemundo as about 6,000 lb. Tijuana's mayor, Montserrat Caballero, spoke at the unveiling with the former Mexican foreign secretary Marcelo Ebrard. Infobae quotes the plaque as hoping the piece will teach a society to tear down walls and build bridges of solidarity.

The donor is Marcos Cline-Márquez, a Los Angeles producer. El Financiero reports that he offered the piece to the Trump administration in 2017, was refused, and took it around the United States before placing it here, beside the construction of the replacement fence at San Diego; the segment at LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes, elsewhere in this catalogue, has a similar story, but the sources read here do not link the two. Infobae dates the installation to 19 August and the other outlets to 13 August; the record follows the majority. Nothing read says where in Berlin the piece stood.

How did it get here?

Given by the producer Marcos Cline-Márquez, who had offered it to the Trump administration in 2017 according to El Financiero.
