The record

Two blocks of the Wall under glass on a promenade in a Galician town, donated to the council by the uncle of an emigrant who brought them from Germany.

Two blocks of the Wall stand in a glass case on the Paseo da Xunqueira in Redondela, in front of the Multiusos hall. They are about two metres long and one wide each. Atlántico, the Vigo daily, reported in April 2011 that Jacinto Suárez had given them to the council; his nephew Manuel Figueroa, an emigrant, had acquired them in Germany in the early 1990s. For fifteen years they had been fixed, little noticed, to a pillar of the old viaduct at the Subida á Estación. The local artist Jesús Cameselle cleaned them, taking off rust and oxidation, and methacrylate panels now protect them from weather and vandals.

Metropolitano.gal in November 2019 and El Debate in May 2025 tell the same story, with the glass case dated to early 2011. The position this listing was imported with fell in the province of León, some 160 kilometres from Redondela; the position here is the town's.

How did it get here?

Brought from Germany in the early 1990s by the emigrant Manuel A. Figueroa and given to the town council by his uncle, Jacinto Suárez.
