A segment the German consul general gave Miami for the twenty-fifth anniversary, set at the main entrance of the downtown college campus.
A segment of the Berlin Wall stands at the main entrance of the Wolfson Campus of Miami Dade College, downtown on NE Second Avenue. Germany's consul general for Florida, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, Jürgen Borsch, unveiled it and presented it to the city on 9 November 2014, twenty-five years to the day after the border opened. It is nearly ten feet tall.
The college's own account says why it came here rather than to a park or a museum. Miami Dade calls itself Democracy's College, and it was judged a fitting place to remember the fall of a wall that had divided a city; a plaque at the site makes the case for democracy and resilience.
Neither source says where in Berlin the segment stood or who painted it.
