The record
A section in a private garden on Spring Garden Street, visible from the pavement.
The German Society of Pennsylvania unveiled a section of the Wall in its garden on 9 November 2014, twenty-five years after the border opened and during the society's own 250th anniversary. CBS Philadelphia, reporting the unveiling, said the garden is private but the section can be seen from the street, and that once the work was finished the piece was to stand on a platform turning every five minutes, with video and audio of East German history on one side and West German history on the other. The society still shows it: its page on hiring the Leidy Terrace has a photograph with "a section of the Berlin Wall" in the background.
CBS did not say how the society obtained the section. The Wall Net, a tertiary listing, says the society's chairman, Hardy von Auenmüller, asked the Berlin Senate for a segment in 2013 and received two, the other going to the German-American Heritage Foundation's museum in Washington. Whether the rotating platform was built is not stated.
How did it get here?
Reported by The Wall Net to have been requested from the Berlin Senate in 2013 by the society's chairman; not confirmed by the society or the press read here.
