One element at the Museum of Occupations, which documents the Soviet and Nazi occupations of Estonia. The segment is used there as evidence about the occupier rather than about Germany — a recipient reading the object for its own history, which is the pattern across most of this catalogue.
The Government Office of Estonia, which arranged the display with the museum and the German Embassy, and the broadcaster ERR both record the opening on 9 November 2014 on the Kaarli puiestee side of the museum, and give the element's origin as the corner of Leipziger Straße and Stresemannstraße at Potsdamer Platz. The museum has since been renamed Vabamu, the Museum of Occupations and Freedom.
