Three segments were reported outside the museum in Chelsea before its rebuilding of 2014 to 2017. Since the thirtieth anniversary of the opening, in 2019, the museum has shown one section, 3.6 metres tall and 2 metres wide, inside its foyer, beside a Fox armoured car of the kind British reconnaissance units used in Germany. Its bronze plaque records that it was presented by 62 Transport and Movements Squadron, The Royal Logistic Corps (Berlin), 1945–1994. Whether it is one of the three, and where the other two went, the museum's pages do not say.
London holds an unusual density of documented sites — this museum, the Imperial War Museum in Southwark, a Ripley's attraction and the pair at the Migration Museum in Lewisham — which reflects both the British garrison's half-century in Berlin and the London art market of the early 1990s.
Wie kam es hierher?
