The segment at Ronald Reagan Park was dedicated to mark a hundred years since Reagan's birth. Like the Madrid park and unlike most American sites, it is in an ordinary municipal park rather than an institution — though the park's name does the interpretive work that a museum label would do elsewhere.
KPCC reported in October 2010 that supporters of the park had bought the slab, 11 feet by 4 feet and 6,000 pounds, through a German auction house for $2,500, that shipping nearly doubled the cost, and that a local artist had painted a silhouette of Reagan on the side that faced East Berlin. It expected the unveiling the following month, November 2010, whereas Wikipedia places the dedication in the Reagan centenary celebrations, which fell in February 2011, and gives the segment as four metres; the two accounts are not reconciled here.
