The record

Five painted elements, lent by the LuxPopArt Group to the hotel's art venture and set up on its car park in November 2012.

VOL.AT, the Vorarlberg news site, reported on 22 November 2012 that five elements of the Berlin Wall had been set up the day before in front of the Arlberg Hospiz Hotel at St. Christoph, in time for the opening of the Arlberg ski season on the first weekend of December. They are a permanent loan from the LuxPopArt Group, an atelier which, the report says, presents painted original elements of the Wall to collections and institutions in collaboration with leading Wall artists, to the Kunstquartier Hospiz, the hotel's art venture; the report values the five at a million euros in all. It describes them as elements of type UL 12.41, almost four metres high and three tonnes each, standing on a foundation 2.10 metres deep, among the last parts of the former border wall, taken down in 1990 from the inner-city border, at Potsdamer Platz for example. The painters it names are Jakob Wagner, Chor Booky and Michael Würthle, and the Cineam for Peace Foundation, as it spells them; The Wall Net gives the artists as Jakob Wagner of Berlin, Chor Boogie of Los Angeles and Michael Wuerthle of Vienna. Patrice Lux of LuxPopArt called a hotel with so many art activities an ideal place for the pieces, and the hotelier Florian Werner, who started the Kunstquartier, said the Visible Walls suited the house's international outlook and would welcome art lovers and guests from the car park onwards.

The Wall Net, whose entry the Berlin Wall Archive's listing follows, counted the same five, on loan, in 2017 and adds that the hotel's 1,400-square-metre gallery had been opened in 2008 by Werner, hotelier and artist. Nothing later was found, and whether the elements still stand on the car park has not been confirmed.

How did it get here?

On permanent loan from the LuxPopArt Group to the Kunstquartier Hospiz since November 2012; said by the report to come from the inner-city border, dismantled in 1990.
