The record
A border element given by the twin town of Teltow and painted by a pupil, on the square that gathers Ahlen's twinning gifts and its memorials to division.
The town of Ahlen announced on 30 September 2016 that its new Platz der Städtepartnerschaft on the Dolberger Straße, beside the Friedrich-Ebert-Sporthalle, was finished in time for the Day of German Unity. The exhibits from Ahlen's partner towns and the memorials to the division of Germany, until then spread over the Berliner Park on the other side of the road, were gathered there. The town's announcement names among them the 'Teltower Mauerstück', a piece of the Wall that came from the partner town of Teltow, and the pupil Selinay Kamali, who contributed its design and painted the element.
Teltow ohne Grenzen, the Teltow twinning association, reported from the anniversary celebrations of July 2017 that the remodelled square in front of the Friedrich-Ebert-Halle was handed over to the public that day, and that a piece of the Wall given to Ahlen by Teltow and painted by pupils was to be found on it. Nothing later than that report has been read, so whether the piece still stands on the square has not been confirmed.
How did it get here?
A gift from Ahlen's partner town of Teltow, painted to a design by the pupil Selinay Kamali.
