The record
'Aus dem Geist der Freiheit', a memorial by the Polish sculptor Dariusz Kowalski made from a 2.5-tonne piece of the Wall, on a door-fittings maker's grounds.
ECO Schulte, the firm that holds the memorial, has its seat at Iserlohner Landstraße 89 in the Obsthof district of Menden. Its company history records that in 1999, for the tenth anniversary of the fall of the Wall, it unveiled the memorial 'Aus dem Geist der Freiheit' on its grounds in Menden, created by the Polish sculptor Dariusz Kowalski from a 2.5-tonne original piece of the Berlin Wall.
A photograph taken on 4 March 2012 and published on Wikimedia Commons shows the memorial, a bronze figure with the piece of the Wall, at that address with the inscription 'Aus dem Geiste der Freiheit' on a slab at its foot and granite memorial tablets. The photograph's description dates the work to 1991; the firm's history gives 1999. Nothing later than the 2012 photograph has been read.
