The record
Two painted remnants outside a local firm, which the regional paper found still standing on the fiftieth anniversary of the Wall's construction — so far the only account of them.
The pieces stand on Kirchensaller Straße in Neuenstein, in front of the FKN company, which set them up in 1990.
The Heilbronner Stimme mentioned them in August 2011, at the end of a profile of a Neuenstein couple who had been separated from family by the Wall and left the GDR in November 1988. The Wall, the paper wrote, still stands in Neuenstein: only two remnants, but bigger and more colourful than the small grey fragments the couple keep on their living-room table, and they pass them often on the way to the shops.
That is all the report says. Where in Berlin they came from and how the firm acquired them are not established here.
How did it get here?
Set up by the FKN company in 1990; how it obtained them is not recorded.
