The record
A segment the local savings bank set up as a memorial stone in 1997, outside a meeting place for older people, inscribed „Nie wieder!“.
The segment stands in the Neubaugebiet West of Reichenbach im Vogtland, in front of the Seniorenbegegnungsstätte, the meeting place for older people, at Albert-Schweitzer-Straße 40. The Federal Foundation's memorials database records it as a memorial stone made of a segment of the Wall, put up in August 1997 by the Sparkasse Vogtland from its Reichenbach head office. The idea came from a member of the bank's board, who brought in the Reichenbach group of the Vereinigung der Opfer des Stalinismus, the association of the victims of Stalinism, to help shape it. The inscription reads „Nie / wieder! / Berliner Mauer / 1961–1989“.
The Wall Net tells it the same way. Where in Berlin the segment stood, and how the bank came by it, neither says.
How did it get here?
Set up in August 1997 by the Sparkasse Vogtland, Reichenbach head office, with the Reichenbach group of the Vereinigung der Opfer des Stalinismus.
