Two segments at the Technik Museum Speyer, a collection of large machines — a Boeing 747 mounted in the air, a U-boat, and the Soviet Buran space shuttle. The Buran is the detail that matters: a museum holding both the Wall and the Soviet shuttle programme is showing two halves of the same competition, and the segment stops being a political relic and becomes another very large object built at enormous cost for a purpose that expired.
