The record

A piece from Potsdamer Platz on the grounds of the German embassy's school in south-west Moscow, used in lessons; in 2019 dpa knew of only one other Wall site in Russia.

The dpa news agency's round-up for the thirtieth anniversary of the fall of the Wall, printed on 8 November 2019, says a piece is on show at the school of the German embassy on Prospekt Wernadskogo and is part of its lessons, and that it came about five years before, by lorry from Potsdamer Platz in Berlin to the Russian capital. The Wall Net gives 2014 and Potsdamer Platz as well.

A photograph taken in September 2020 shows the fragment at the school at Prospekt Wernadskogo 103, building 5. The same dpa report puts a second piece near the Sakharov Centre, which has its own page, and says experts know of no other Wall sites in Russia.

Who gave the piece and on what occasion is not recorded in anything read here; no page of the school or the embassy describes it. The school's grounds are not open to the public.

How did it get here?

From Potsdamer Platz, Berlin, brought to Moscow by lorry in about 2014.
