The record

One segment outside the volunteer-run museum of the former air base, dedicated in 2014 as its Berlin Wall Monument.

The Norton Air Force Base Museum is a non-profit in the former NCO Club of the closed base, now the Norton Regional Event Center at 1601 E. 3rd Street. In January 2015 it described itself as one year old as of March 2014, and said the 63rd/445th Norton Veterans Group Memorial stood just outside the building. The Wall Net places one segment in that veterans' memorial area.

The museum's own news pages, as archived in November 2014 and February 2015, announced a 'Berlin Wall Monument' and a '5th Evening at the Museum event with Col. Paul Green, former Commandant of Norton AFB and Tuskegee Pilot with Berlin Wall Monument dedication', with a flyer dated July 2014 and a wall collage dated August 2014 attached. Museum text quoted by The Wall Net says the Wall was set in place on the 25th anniversary of its fall, which would be November 2014; the two dates are not reconciled here.

Visitors' comments published on the museum's site today mention 'a section of the Berlin wall' and 'that chunk of Berlin Wall outside', seen even when the museum was closed. Where in Berlin the segment came from, who gave or sold it and its size are not known. It is a different piece from the slab in Ronald Reagan Park, which has its own page.

How did it get here?

Not known; the museum's surviving pages do not say where the segment came from or who gave it.
