THE STATE INDEX

Berlin Wall pieces in Georgia

Georgia's seven sites are mostly the army and the schools. The National Infantry Museum at Fort Benning holds three sections in the US Army's own collection, and Freedom Park on the post now called Fort Eisenhower shows two sections with something rarer than concrete, a sign taken from the Wall itself. The Atlanta International School, which teaches in German among other languages, keeps a segment on its campus, and Kennesaw State displays one on loan outside its social sciences building. The fifth stands in the town centre park at Suwanee, a city of about twenty thousand north-east of Atlanta, in a public park rather than at an institution. The sixth is that slab's other address: in 2014 it stood outside the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center in Lawrenceville, on loan from its Suwanee owners. The seventh is a former location: the Army's Signal Corps Museum at Fort Gordon housed a piece until it closed in 2021, and the Army has not said where the piece went.

Each site says what its evidence rests on, from Listed to Confirmed, and whether the piece can be seen today; a listing in a source inventory is not a confirmation that anyone has seen it. The research methodology explains how claims are weighed.
