Berlin Wall pieces in Illinois

Illinois has the most ordinary setting in the atlas and one of its losses. A twelve-foot Grenzmauer 75 slab stands inside the Western station on Chicago's Brown Line in Lincoln Square, the city's historically German neighbourhood, offered by the German government and dedicated in 2008, and passed twice a day by commuters who are not visiting it. In River North a spy-themed bar displayed a piece among its props from 2017 until it closed in March 2023, and nobody recorded where the piece went. Downstate, a worn slab stands in the Reagan Peace Garden at Eureka College, where Reagan graduated in 1932 and returned fifty years later to propose arms-reduction talks with the Soviet Union; and a piece stands on the Airlift/Tanker Association's walk at Scott Air Force Base, confirmed in an Air Force report of 2024 and not generally open to the public.

Each site says what its evidence rests on, from Listed to Confirmed, and whether the piece can be seen today; a listing in a source inventory is not a confirmation that anyone has seen it. The research methodology explains how claims are weighed.
