Berlin Wall pieces in Kansas
Kansas has three sections and three readings. At Fort Leavenworth three pieces from near Checkpoint Charlie are set at deliberately different angles near Smith Lake, crumbling, falling and standing, the only installation in the atlas that stages the collapse. At the Cosmosphere in Hutchinson a section sits in the Hall of Space among V-2 rockets and Apollo hardware, the Wall told as an episode of the space race. And at the Museum of World Treasures in Wichita a four-and-a-half-ton section is on loan from the archive of America's overseas schools, given to it by the alumni of Berlin American High School, one of the few records anywhere whose donors grew up beside the Wall.

Each site says what its evidence rests on, from Listed to Confirmed, and whether the piece can be seen today; a listing in a source inventory is not a confirmation that anyone has seen it. The research methodology explains how claims are weighed.
