Berlin Wall pieces in Washington

Washington State's three sites are a food hall, a neighbourhood museum and a corporate campus. The three-ton slab in the Armory food hall at Seattle Center carries a titled painting, Bloody Erich, after Erich Honecker; its plaque records that it was exhibited on Capitol Hill during the celebrations of German unification in October 1990 and given to the city the following January. A second Seattle section is recorded at History House in Fremont, a museum about the city's neighbourhoods rather than the Cold War. The third was a gift from Daimler-Benz to Bill Gates in February 1996 and is held at the Microsoft Conference Center in Redmond, in corporate hands, which is the group whose current status is hardest to check.

Each site says what its evidence rests on, from Listed to Confirmed, and whether the piece can be seen today; a listing in a source inventory is not a confirmation that anyone has seen it. The research methodology explains how claims are weighed.
