Parts of the Wall stand on the Castellbergstraße in Ballrechten-Dottingen, a wine village of about two and a half thousand people in the Markgräflerland, with the Fohrenberg behind them. The photograph's own record names their origin: the Berliner Sonnenallee, the street in Neukölln where the Wall cut the road in half and which became a crossing point in November 1989. Named origin streets are uncommon in this catalogue, and a village this size holding one is rarer still.
