The Allied Museum in Dahlem keeps its largest objects outdoors, along Clayallee where drivers and pedestrians can see them: a section of the Berlin Wall with a watchtower, the British Hastings TG 503 that flew in the airlift, a carriage from the French military train, and the last guardhouse from Checkpoint Charlie. Admission to the museum is free; the large objects can be entered for a euro. The Berlin Wall Foundation lists the wall section in its directory of surviving traces as MAU-716: four elements, painted after they arrived by Thierry Noir.
The guardhouse is the reason this record matters to the rest of the catalogue. Checkpoint Charlie is the most visited Cold War address in Berlin and nothing original survives there — the hut on Friedrichstraße is a replica. The genuine one is here, seven kilometres south-west, in a museum most visitors to the checkpoint never hear about. It is the neatest illustration in the atlas of the gap between where an object is and where its fame is.
The museum also holds a version of Veryl Goodnight's sculpture The Day the Wall Came Down — five horses breaking through wall rubble — made in 1998 and given by the United States to Germany. Its twin stands at the George Bush Presidential Library in College Station, Texas, which this catalogue records separately.
This record exists because the catalogue's single generic Berlin listing had a lead attached to it describing the museum's open-air exhibition, seven kilometres from where that listing is positioned. Rather than move a record whose name says only Berlin, the museum has been given its own.

Held by the AlliiertenMuseum. The Checkpoint Charlie guardhouse was removed here from Friedrichstraße; the Goodnight sculpture was a gift from the United States to Germany in 1998.
