The record
A Ben Wagin segment the founders of the Ständige Vertretung gave the airport when they opened a branch in Terminal 1 in 2010; reported moved to a Bad Godesberg hotel garden in 2024.
The Ständige Vertretung's own page on its wall project says the two founders, Friedel Drautzburg and Harald Grunert, started it with the Berlin artist Ben Wagin, who painted several original pieces, and lists where they are to be found: on the terrace of the Berlin StäV, in front of Deutsche Welle in Bonn, on the Platz der Deutschen Einheit in Bremen, "vor dem Eingang zur StäV auf dem Köln Bonn Airport" and in Wittlich, Drautzburg's birthplace. The Bonn piece has its own page in this atlas.
The Wall Net, a general reference, dates the airport branch to October 2010, in Terminal 1, with the segment given to the airport and set up near the restaurant by the security control, and in 2026 added that it moved in October 2024 to the garden of the Rheinhotel Dreesen in Bad Godesberg: after the airport restaurant closed, the owners handed the piece to Fritz Georg Dreesen, judging the hotel, opened in 1894 and a venue of German politics and diplomacy, a fitting place. The restaurateurs' site now lists branches in Berlin, Bremen, Hanover and at Berlin's airport, and none at Cologne Bonn.
The airport's own news item on the opening could not be read, and no report of the move was found beyond the general reference, so the move rests on that alone; the hotel has no record in this catalogue.
How did it get here?
Painted by Ben Wagin for the Ständige Vertretung's wall project and given to the airport by Friedel Drautzburg and Harald Grunert, in October 2010 by The Wall Net's account; reported handed to the Rheinhotel Dreesen in October 2024.
