The record
A gift from the partner town of Königs Wusterhausen, moved from the Bahnhofsplatz to the Alte Ladestraße when the square was rebuilt in 2024.
The piece of the Wall was set up on the Bahnhofsplatz in Hückeswagen in 1999, for the tenth anniversary of the fall of the inner-German border. The town says it was a gift from its partner town, Königs Wusterhausen near Berlin, to the then mayor, Norbert Jörgens. The Wall Net, a tertiary list, dates it to November 1999 and says the idea came from an official visit by people from Hückeswagen to Königs Wusterhausen.
When the town began rebuilding the Bahnhofsplatz, the memorial had to make way. The town's project site says that at the groundbreaking on 11 April 2024 the piece, which had to be moved because of the works, was inaugurated at its new site on the Alte Ladestraße by Michaela Wiezorek, mayor of Königs Wusterhausen. The rebuilt square was opened on 15 August 2025.
The sources do not say exactly where on the Alte Ladestraße the piece stands, where in Berlin it came from, or whether it is painted.
How did it get here?
A gift from Königs Wusterhausen in 1999, according to the town of Hückeswagen; its original position in Berlin is not recorded.
