This record is, in the first instance, a model, and the catalogue should say so plainly. At Mini-Europe, the miniature park at the foot of the Atomium, a scale Brandenburg Gate stands between a scale Holstentor from Kiel and a scale Speyer cathedral, with a model of the Wall in front of it. People sit and walk on the model wall unbothered by border guards; behind it, model demolition machinery and low-loaders have begun carting the thing away. Even the Brezhnev–Honecker kiss is reproduced, although that graffito was painted on the East Side Gallery rather than here.

The Foundation files it under a URL that begins „Nachbildung“ — reproduction — and that is what the model is. The park's own visitor guide, though, asks twice whether the visitor has „noticed the authentic segment of the Berlin Wall presented at Mini-Europe“, once under its Brandenburg Gate and again under the Wall itself, and its website offers the pleasure of knocking down a section of the model Wall by push-button. Whether a genuine element stands in the park beside the model, where it came from, and whether the Foundation's entry overlooked it or the guide overstates, is not established here. Both readings are kept, and the park is the one to ask. It is included because the inventories include it, and because a catalogue of where the Wall went is more useful if it also says where the Wall only appears to be — or might, after all, be.

Wie kam es hierher?

Filed by the Foundation as a reproduction, with no original material recorded; the park's own guide says an authentic segment is presented at Mini-Europe, without saying where it came from.

The park's own guide: the Brandenburg Gate entry says the gate was part of the Berlin Wall after the war and asks „Did you notice the authentic segment of the Berlin Wall presented at Mini-Europe?“; the Berlin Wall entry asks the same of „the real segment“; the foreword cites the animation of the fall of the Wall.
