The unveiling fell on the first anniversary of the opening. The pond is in the Chamartín district, and the segments are one of very few installations outside Germany placed in an ordinary municipal park rather than an institution.

Brought to Madrid in 1990 in an operation arranged by the mayor of the time, Agustín Rodríguez Sahagún.

An EFE report of 8 November 2019: the Parque de Berlín keeps three L-shaped fragments of the Wall in a pond at the north of the park, with an inscription; they arrived in Madrid in 1990, their arrival arranged by the then mayor, Agustín Rodríguez Sahagún.
