A wall element carrying a graffito stands in the harbour at Ostend, on the Belgian North Sea coast. The Berlin Wall Foundation catalogues it in MAUERSPUREN as MAU-767, photographed in 2022 and dated to the Grenzmauer 75 generation.
That is the whole of what is established. The Foundation's directory records what stands there and where, and says nothing about how a piece of the Berlin border came to a Flemish fishing and ferry port, who brought it, or when. Nothing has been supplied here to fill the gap.
The record was held back for a while for an unrelated reason worth noting: the image matcher offered a photograph for it that turned out to show a German field named Ostende at Glienicke/Nordbahn rather than the Belgian city. The listing was always genuine; only the picture was wrong.
