A wall element stands at the Rathaus Treptow, catalogued by the Berlin Wall Foundation as MAU-748 and photographed in 2022. It is the second element the Foundation records in the borough, alongside the one outside the district museum at Johannisthal.
A town hall is a particular kind of address for one of these. Most of the Berlin records in this catalogue are places where the Wall still stands on its own line, or museums that collected it. This is neither: an administrative building that was, for twenty-eight years, the seat of local government for a district with a sealed western edge, and which now keeps a piece of that edge outside its door.
