The record

Bremen's segment from the Bild distribution to the sixteen federal states, standing since 2010 at the entrance to a park in the Überseestadt, where the city hosted that year's German Unity Day.

The segment is painted, more than 3.50 metres high, 1.20 metres wide and almost three tonnes in weight. It has stood since 2010 in the Kaffee-Quartier of the Überseestadt, at the entrance to the Hilde-Adolf-Park. The Überseestadt's development agency explains it as a gift from Bild, which gave one to each of the sixteen federal states for the twentieth anniversary of German unity, and says the place was chosen because Bremen hosted the national celebrations of that anniversary there in October 2010. The Wall Net describes the same distribution, by Axel Springer AG, as marking twenty years since the fall of the Wall — the reading the Stuttgart and Hamburg records follow — and dates Bremen's segment to German Unity Day 2010.

It has not been an easy memorial. In November 2023 the Weser-Kurier reported that Bremen's governing coalition considered none of the city's Wall fragments a fitting place to remember the dead of the Wall: none has an explanatory panel, and the pieces are so hemmed in that they hardly read as monuments. The coalition wanted the Senate to find them a new site. In October 2026 Radio Bremen still counted one of the city's four pieces of the Wall at the Hilde-Adolf-Park.

The listing names the Eduard-Schopf-Allee, the avenue into the Überseestadt that meets the Lloydstraße beside the park; no other piece in Bremen stands near it.

How did it get here?

A gift from Bild (Axel Springer AG) to the state of Bremen, one of sixteen given to the federal states; set up in 2010.
