The record
A piece set up soon after the fall of the Wall by the entrepreneur Heinz-Josef Antpöhler at his events venue, as a memorial to inhumanity.
Radio Hochstift reported on 9 November 2009, twenty years after the Wall fell, that a very small part of it had been set up again at Delbrück-Hagen soon afterwards. The entrepreneur Heinz-Josef Antpöhler had put the piece up in his Gastliches Dorf shortly after the Wende as a 'Denkmal der Unmenschlichkeit', a memorial to inhumanity. He had come to the Iron Curtain more or less by chance: celebrating in an East Berlin bar, he had met building workers who later had to tear the Wall down. Since then, the broadcaster said, hundreds stopped at the grey piece of concrete every year.
The venue's imprint still gives its address as Lippstädter Straße 88 in Delbrück in 2026, but does not mention the Wall. Nothing later than the 2009 report has been read, so whether the piece is still there has not been confirmed.
How did it get here?
Set up by Heinz-Josef Antpöhler soon after the Wende; the report connects it with building workers he met in East Berlin who later had to demolish the Wall.
