The record
Three painted elements that spent three years in a restaurant's beer garden on the Wethmarheide, until two of them left for Dortmund in September 2020.
The Ruhr Nachrichten reported on 1 September 2020 that three elements of the Berlin Wall, each weighing 2.8 tonnes, had stood for three years in the beer garden of the restaurant Westermann's on the Wethmarheide in Lünen, and that two of them had been moved that day to Dortmund, to the Lensing Carrée of Lensing Media.
The Wall Net, a general reference, says the three came from the stock of Baumedia GmbH, the Lünen firm that had lent segments to the German embassy in Athens in 2010 — the stock the pair now at Lüdinghausen came from — and that in the spring of 2019 the Ruhr-born artist miNo repainted them as a memorial to the Wall and its victims.
Neither source says what became of the third element after September 2020, or whether it is still in the beer garden.
How did it get here?
From the stock of Baumedia GmbH, Lünen, by The Wall Net's account, and repainted by miNo in 2019. Two of the three elements moved to Lensing Media in Dortmund on 1 September 2020.
