The Kester-Haeusler-Stiftung is a public foundation under civil law in Fürstenfeldbruck that funds science, research and culture from the Haeusler-Villa on Dachauer Straße. Its own pages give the piece's history in an interview with the artist from October 2021: Thierry Noir painted the segment on 17 June 2007 together with six other artists of the East Side Gallery; the seven pieces had stood on Späthstraße in Berlin and were dismantled there in 1989, and after their painting the 2.6-tonne elements stood as a tourist attraction at the Hi-Flyer balloon on Zimmerstraße, near Checkpoint Charlie, until they were auctioned. The foundation bought this one in Berlin in December 2019 and unveiled it at a ceremony in the garden of the villa on 30 September 2020.
The Wall Net adds that the unveiling, in the year of the thirtieth anniversary of unification, was addressed among others by Manfred Walther, the last acting justice minister of the GDR, and that the foundation has run talks and witness projects on the GDR since 1989. Whether the garden can be visited is not stated by the pages read.
