The record
A small original segment set into a wall on the village green of Kleinschönebeck, which the municipality lists among its memorial sites with an inscription recalling 9 November 1989.
Kleinschönebeck is the old village core of Schöneiche, east of Berlin, and its green is now the Dorfaue. The municipality's register of memorial sites, „Gemeinsam gedenken – Gedenkorte in der Gemeinde Schöneiche bei Berlin“, in its edition of September 2018, lists as its seventeenth political memorial a Berliner Mauersegment at Dorfaue 34, with the inscription „Wir waren auf alles vorbereitet – nur nicht auf Kerzen und Gebete! 9./10. November 1989“, and notes that it is used for commemoration on larger anniversaries.
The Wall Net describes a segment of the Berlin Wall integrated into a wall on the Dorfaue and knows nothing more; a photographer who contributed pictures of it adds in a comment that the wall it is built into belongs to the adjoining property rather than enclosing the green. Nothing read says when the piece came to Kleinschönebeck or where it stood in Berlin.
How did it get here?
