The segment at the European Parliament is one of a group. Brussels holds the densest cluster of institutional segments in Europe — the European Commission, this Parliament site, NATO headquarters, Leopold Park, the Elia site by the canal, and a temporary exhibition on Place du Luxembourg. The European institutions have assembled, without ever planning to, the largest collection of Cold War border material in any capital outside Germany.

A photograph of the section taken on 2 November 2015 records, in its description, that it was placed on display in November 2014 for the twenty-fifth anniversary of the opening. Nothing institutional has yet been read on who gave it or when it became permanent.

Belgian reporting from November 2014 explains the display: for the twenty-fifth anniversary a panel left over from the 2009 Place du Luxembourg exhibition was moved to the Parliament's esplanade and unveiled on 12 November 2014 by Martin Schulz with the mayor of Ixelles, while another already stood at the visitors' entrance on rue Wiertz. The Parliament's own page now describes only two segments on its premises, both beside the Hemicycle entrance since 2021, so the section photographed here in 2015 is very probably one of the pair now under glass; nothing read here settles which.

Stukje Berlijnse Muur verplaatst naar Esplanade Europees Parlement ↗
Bruzz, 10 November 2014: the piece of the Wall shown on Place du Luxembourg since 2009 was moved to the Parliament's esplanade and unveiled on 12 November 2014 with Martin Schulz and the mayor of Ixelles, Willy Decourty, and was to move again in December 2014 to Leopold Park by the Parliament's visitors' entrance, where another piece of the Wall already stood, the two forming a permanent memorial; the European Commission held a third.

Le mur de Berlin oublié en plein coeur de Bruxelles ↗
RTBF, 10 November 2014: three panels remained in Brussels from the exhibition held on Place du Luxembourg five years earlier — one at the Parliament's visitors' entrance on rue Wiertz, one moved to the Parliament's esplanade, and one with a Kennedy portrait being restored by the European Commission for the Berlaymont esplanade.

Berlin Wall | Visiting | European Parliament ↗
The Parliament's own visitor page describes two original segments beside the visitors' entrance to the Hemicycle, relocated there in 2021: one from Potsdamer Platz given by the city of Berlin and shown in Leopold Park from 2004, the other from the 2009 Place du Luxembourg exhibition, acquired by the Belgian State.
