An element brought straight from the planned crossing at Bernauer Straße in May 1990 to the courtyard of the Wedding local history museum.
A wall element stands in the courtyard of the Mitte Museum on Pankstraße in Gesundbrunnen. It was set up there on 8 May 1990 as a gift to what was then the Heimatmuseum Wedding, and it came straight from the Wall: from the corner of Brunnenstraße and Bernauer Straße, where a new border crossing was being opened, to the museum under two kilometres to the north-west.
The museum itself was barely a year old. It had opened in 1989 in a parish school built in 1865–66, one of the oldest surviving school buildings in Berlin, and it has been the Mitte Museum since 2004. So a local history museum founded in the last year of the division took a piece of it, within six months of the border opening, from a street in its own district.
The Berlin Wall Foundation lists it in its directory of surviving traces as MAU-760. Nothing read here names the donor.
