The record

A wall memorial on the Platz der Deutschen Einheit, by the town hall, where the city lays its wreath for the victims of the Wall each August.

The city lies about forty kilometres from where the inner-German border ran, close enough that the frontier was a fact of local life rather than a distant one — and it took in a large share of the people who came across it.

The memorial stands on the Platz der Deutschen Einheit, the square at the town hall. The city's own press office recorded the mayor, Gert Hoffmann, laying a wreath „am Mauerdenkmal auf dem Platz der Deutschen Einheit“ on 13 August 2012, the anniversary of the building of the Wall, for the dead of the former inner-German border. When the element was set up and who gave it has not yet been read from a source that qualifies here.
